It is NEVER too late

A VERY HUMAN STORY OF TRIUMPH AGAINST ALL ODDS.
by Bears Barry Neil Kaufman

Christine is one of my heroes. She is 61 years old, had breast cancer, is wheel chair bound most of the time (struggles using canes).

Her son, Brian, now 34, had been viewed and diagnosed first as "subnormal" at age 7, then at 13 diagnosed as schizophrenic and put ondrugs and into a facility for 24 hour care when Christine could no longer handle him as a single mom. But she never gave up hope and wanted to one day bring him home again.

Christine first heard about the Son-Rise Program less than two years ago while attending a lecture by Raun K. Kaufman (senior teacher, mentor, trainer, lecturer at the Autism Treatment Center of America) and the first, among many children, recovered from autism using the Son-Rise Program.

Then, with her new husband, Christine came to our center to learn and then implement the Son-Rise Program principles and process with her son. If we stop here, this alone gives Christine a seat in heaven.

But it doesn't stop here.

Brian went from a 32 year old man who spoke infrequently to a 34 year old man who has conversations about news events from the newspapers and programs he watched (making good eye contact and speaking in full sentences). Brian went from a man who stood in the kitchen flapping most of the day to a man who now plays board games in the parlor with his family. Brian went from a man locked mostly in his own world to one who went on a recent shopping trip with his mom, walked around to her car door, opened it, said "give me your walking stick -- it's slippery" and helped her to the house and bringing in the groceries for her.

Christine just posted the note below on my wall.

Hi, Bears: I've had such a brilliant past 18 months. First time in 32 years I've seen remarkable changes taking place in my son. These are ongoing and can see no end to this. THINGS ARE SO GOOD, LIFE IS BRILLIANT.
I am now so relaxed. I'm not battling with any people trying to persuade them that Brian was more intelligent than what they imagined. Now I don't care. It is so obvious!!!
Each day has surprises in store for me from Brian. Today I told Brian about an actor that is getting divorced I'd heard about on TV. His reply 'I know mum read about it on Saturday when I was waiting to get my hair cut!!' (Dave was with him)
What a wonderful reply. He's also asked me what my plans are for the day. A phrase I'm always asking my family!
Before his usual answer would be either yes mum or no mum.
Bears dear friend, it's so true it’s never too late.
Thank you so much. Love and hugs to you all .Christine x

PLEASE PASS THIS ON AND SHARE WITH EVERYONE/ANYONE YOU KNOW. THIS IS NOT ONLY ABOUT AUTISM -- it's TRIUMPH AGAINST ALL ODDS!!!! Never give up! Never believe in hopelessness! Never think "impossible." DREAM BIG! LIVE BIG!

Love, Bears Barry Neil Kaufman (Co-Founder Son-Rise Program/Autism Treatment Center of America/Option Institute and Author “Happiness Is A Choice” and “Son-Rise: The Miracle Continues” and “No Regrets”)
