Communicating danger

A couple of minutes ago my son came rushing up the stairs and was trying his best to tell me something. Unfortunately I couldn't understand and I ignored him for a while. He increasingly got more excitable and started crying. I tried asking him whether he wanted to play with the computer "No!". He didn't want a hug or go to toilet either. he kept on tugging my hand.

In the end, I decided to follow him and he led me downstairs to the kitchen and pointed at the gas stove. I then realised that he was trying to tell us that the soup that my wife had left on the stove was overflowing all over.

I hugged him for telling us and mouthed the words "gas" which he repeated.

Bit scary and a warning - not to be careless but at least something good came out of this. We are really happy that he is getting aware of the dangers.
