First day at Reception School

We started off with just an hour at the special unit. As soon as he entered the room, he was off exploring - opening the door to the quiet room, clicking the switches, playing with the blinds and window shutters. He was quite spacey and have very little eye contact.

Mrs K, Imaan's key worker tried several things to get his attention including puzzles, toys, bubbles and offering the computer. None of them could get his attention for long. However, he suddenly got hold of the click clack marble-run construction toy on one of the tables. He really liked the game and played with it for the rest of our visit. Mrs. K adopted a really good position on the floor. However his eye contact is still very limited but he did say marble and thank you (approximate word) when prompted.

We feel that the unit mainly follows the TEACHH method that is so popular in UK schools.
