Raun Kaufman's lecture
Went to Birmingham yesterday to listen to Raun K. Kaufman, the CEO of the Option Institute and the Autism Treatment Center of America. The lecture was at the University of Aston and I reached the venue just on time. Was quite surprised to find the hall packed but I was able to find a seat near the back. Note to myself: Come earlier to an event to get good seats.
Anyway, listening to Raun, I found it hard to believe that this was someone who was diagnosed with severe autism with IQ of below 30 as a toddler. Definitely does give me hope that my son would be able to recover one day.
He was telling us a story of how a boy on the Son-rise program finally connected with his dad. Felt a bit emotional and noticed some people wiping away tears. Just realised that there are loads of other parents facing the same thing with us.
